Another Facebook Security Issue

Social media has become a huge part of peoples lives. Little do they know that with every social media site they are on the more information they expose to the world.

A mishap in Facebook's privacy has allowed a public database to expose over 267 million users phone numbers, names, and users IDs. This adds to the continuing problem of Facebook's privacy and security problems that plague the worlds most popular social media site. The information contained in the database was pulled down but it was exposed to the world for two weeks.

An American online publisher called TechCrunch verified a number of records in this database to match the phone numbers with people's personal accounts and claimed the database also had a users gender, name and location out and open to the public.

“This data set is old and appears to have information obtained before we made changes last year to remove people’s ability to find others using their phone numbers,” said Jay Nancarrow, a for Facebook who later claimed that the public database had contained around 220 millions records of personal information. Facebook also said that a reason for this security breach is that Facebook changed its security a number of times over the past few years. to better protect people over that time.

This is not the first time that Facebook has had a problem with its security and there is nothing that makes it seems like something like this wont happen again.

The History of the U.S. Supreme Court

The United States Supreme Court is perhaps the must important part of our governmental system. Many people wonder how the court began and how it works.

Beginning

The Beginning of the U.S. Supreme Court began to the government's move to Washington in 1801. The first ever Chief Justice, John Marshall, was given a small spot in the Capital Building and the power to decide the Marbury v. Madison case. Marshall's decision of the case was based on the constitution which is the tradition the Supreme Court follows when deciding a case.

The Process

The Justices of the Supreme Court walk in to the conference room, shake hands, then hear out the case at hand. But what happens before that?

The Justices are first tasked with picking from a pile of cases that they find worthy enough to have a conference about. Once selected, many of the justices have a different approach going into the conference. Some like Justice Clarence Thomas, have a decision on the case made already before walking into the conference room. Other Justices wait to hear what the lawyers in the case have to say and ask "the hard questions" before making a decision.

Whatever the courts decision is, their belief is based off of the Constitution, whether something is constitutional or not. The Supreme Court is careful when following the Constitution because their decisions reflect their views of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

But the courts decisions are not made without some help. Court Correspondents are their to assist the nine judges when it comes to writing their opinions of the case, the most difficult part for a Justice. These correspondents also release the courts decision to the press to be heard by the nation.

The Supreme Court is like no other. Its nine Justices envoke Federal Power are their to justify a case properly whether it is Constitutional or not. The Court is important because Federal Power is much more accurate than State Power. So when a case hits the Supreme Court, the ruling you get is the most accurate.

Barstool's Founder has First Amendment Rights Violated by NFL

The Super Bowl is looming and the sports media will all gather in Miami for the big game. But there is one big name sports media personality that will have a tough time getting into the big game.

Dave Portnoy is the CEO and founder of Barstool Sports, a pop-culture blog mainly focused on sports. And his media outlet has a tough relationship with the NFL. Famously among followers, Portnoy has protested against many cases involving the NFL like the Patriots "Deflate-gate". He has even gone so far as to make merchandise trolling Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL.
This tee shirt made by Portnoy's popular Barstool Sports trolls NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Last year during Super Bowl 53, Portnoy was kicked out of media day for his previous statements towards the commissioner and was banned from the big game on that Sunday. He was then kicked out of the game when he dressed in disguise so he could watch the game as a paying fan; not even a media member.

Portnoy is now banned from ever attending an NFL event.

Sure, Barstool's founder may have gone a bit overboard with his actions against the NFL. But he is a member of the media with a big following. Banning him from ever attending an NFL event violates his freedom to press.

Portnoy has made it known that he is in Miami for Super Bowl week and will probably disguise his way into the game once again. But he will be unable to get any content for his company because the NFL has violated one of his first amendment rights.
